Fast-Track Apprenticeships

As a result of the 2010 -11 Federal Budget, funding for the Fast Track Apprenticeships Program ceased as at 11 May 2010 and no new projects under the program will be approved. Funding previously allocated to this program will support the Smarter Apprenticeships Program. For more information on the Smarter Apprenticeships Program, please refer to the Frequently Asked Questions or the Smarter Apprenticeships Program Fact Sheet on the publications page.

The Australian Government will continue to honour the terms and timelines for existing funding recipients.

What is Fast Track Apprenticeships?

The Fast-Track Apprenticeships Program provided opportunities for apprentices to achieve their qualifications earlier by becoming competent in a shorter time.

Employers and apprentices have benefited from this initiative as employers will have a more highly skilled workforce, and apprentices will be able to complete their apprenticeships when they are competent, rather than when they have served the time deemed necessary to complete the qualification.
