An innovative new national apprenticeship program is assisting up to 1000 experienced workers by having their existing skills recognised and then complete all the competencies required to obtain a full trade qualification within 18 months.

The Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR) is seeking tenders from suitably qualified organisations to provide Australian Apprenticeships Support Services (AASS) in all States and in the Australian Capital Territory from 1 July 2012.

The Young Worker Toolkit now available at youngworkertoolkit.youth.gov.au!
The Young Worker Toolkit is part of the Australian Government’s commitment to promote fairness for and information to young people to help them make a positive transition into work.
The Toolkit is a web based resource, optimised for smartphones, which helps young people find answers to common questions about how workplace relations laws apply to them.

In response to the devastation caused by flooding and Tropical Cyclone Yasi in Queensland, the Australian Government is providing a package of assistance to support Australian Apprenticeships.
An additional payment of $3,350 made to small and medium-sized employers (less than 200 employees) and registered group training organisations (GTOs) in rural and regional flood and cyclone affected areas in Queensland.

A one-off initiative will provide a one-off payment of $3,000 to eligible, registered, out-of-trade Australian Apprentices who relocate to a flood or cyclone affected area to recommence their Australian Apprenticeship.
