Working with Adriano Zumbo is a sweet gig
21 year old Adele Di Bella began her Certificate III in Retail Baking (Combined) not realising that it would lead to her meeting and being mentored by world-renowned pastry chef Adriano Zumbo.
Adele decided she wanted to undertake an Australian Apprenticeship because she didn’t see herself completing Years 11 and 12. Having always had a passion for making cakes, she listened to her instincts, finishing school early and enrolling in TAFE. Early morning starts and long hours were challenging but Adele remained focused on her craft, stretching her boundaries and driving herself to try harder.
Adele’s enthusiasm and drive to succeed came to fruition when she was selected as a 2015 WorldSkills Australia Skillaroo. In August 2015, she represented Australia in the 43rd WorldSkills Competition in Sao Paulo, Brazil and brought home a Medallion of Excellence for her work. During the competition preparation her mentor was none other than world-renowned Adrian Zumbo.
“Having this opportunity arise at such a young age is by far the best thing and a dream that has come true for me.”
When asked what advice Adele would give to those looking at an Australian Apprenticeship she says,
“I would say go for it, because it’s one of the best things you could ever do. If you’re passionate about something hands on, then don’t hold back; go for what you want, push your limits and achieve greatness.”
Adele was appointed an Australian Apprenticeships Ambassador in 2016.
