Best decision of his life
Bradley Malby commenced his traineeship with the Northern Territory Government’s Department of Corporate and Information Services, following his enrolment in a Certificate III in Business Administration at Charles Darwin University.
Within a few months he was receiving higher duties allowance and had been promoted within a year.
“I chose this career path as it provided me with excellent exposure to the different fields of work such has human resources, finance and other general office skills,” Bradley said.
“Doing a traineeship was one of the best decisions of my life and provided me with the direction and skills needed for me to develop to my full potential.”
Bradley has been involved in a range of workplace activities since commencing his traineeship, including setting up and overseeing his department’s flu vaccination programme, and providing secretariat assistance and policy and procedural reviews for the department’s Work Health and Safety Committee.
He has assisted displaced employees with the preparation of resumes and has seen some of these employees go on to be successfully placed in new roles, which he found very satisfying.
“To be successful in my industry, you need to be able to remain calm under pressure and see things from different perspectives,” he said.
“A great deal of enthusiasm is also necessary.”
Bradley has lived in Darwin his whole life and plans to gain further qualifications as he builds on his experience with the Northern Territory Government.
Bradley was the NT Trainee of the Year in 2014, and was an Australian Training Awards finalist in 2014.
