The memory of playing in the Melbourne Storm’s 2012 Premiership is something that will last forever for Bryan Norrie.
However, the prop knows that his career on the field will end some day - and it will be the skills learned through an Australian Apprenticeship as an electrician that will set him up for life.
“Completing my apprenticeship while playing in the NRL was a great achievement and highly rewarding,” Bryan said.
“I now have a career as an electrician to look forward to after football – a career that I can do just about anywhere in Australia.
“By completing an apprenticeship, you gain the real world skills needed by industry and make yourself more attractive to potential employers.”
As well as being an Australian Apprenticeships Ambassador for the Australian Government, Bryan was also an apprentice mentor as part of the Trade UP with the NRL program.
Bryan now assists young rugby league players by helping them juggle sporting commitments along with an Australian Apprenticeship.
