Certificate IV in Government
While at school, Chloe Handley aspired to become an events and weddings manager. After completing Year 12 she was accepted into a Bachelor of Business, specialising in Event Management, at the University of Canberra but declined the offer in favour of an Advanced Diploma of Event Management at the Canberra Institute of Technology.
After completing the Advanced Diploma, Chloe undertook a traineeship in government with the ACT Education and Training Directorate. Working in the Media and Communications team enabled her to develop her confidence, combining work with hands-on experience while gaining a deeper understanding of the workings of government. Through her traineeship, Chloe achieved her goal of a permanent job in the Australian Public Service, and is now Events Coordinator at the National Portrait Gallery.
In 2015, Chloe was one of 21 apprentices and trainees from around Australia chosen from 35,000 others to participate in Today’s Skills, Tomorrow’s Leaders program, which identifies leadership potential and challenges participants to take their training successes to the next level.
Chloe was recognised for her outstanding contribution to vocational education and training at the 2016 Australian Training Awards where she was a finalist of the Australian Apprentice (Trainee) of the Year Award after being named winner of this category in the Australian Capital Territory.
