The South Sydney Rabbitohs are benefitting from their own ‘Superman’.

Nicknamed after the famous movie character, David Tyrrell is not only a key member of the Rabbitohs forward pack, but he has also played a vital role off-the-field as an apprentice mentor in the Trade UP with the NRL program.

Through the program, David drew on his experience as an apprentice electrician to advise players on the opportunities that undertaking an Australian Apprenticeship can provide.

“Building skills off-the-field ensures players have a balanced lifestyle and are prepared for a career after rugby league,” David said.

“I was good at mathematics in school which steered me towards an apprenticeship as an electrician, where you work with numbers every day.

“I will give it my all during my rugby league career to succeed knowing that when I retire I have an electrician qualification to support me.”

Teammate Jason Clark is also a mentor with the Rabbitohs and an Australian Apprenticeships Ambassador.
