Certificate III in Commercial Cookery
After a career that included management roles with both the public service and private sector, Matt entered the hospitality industry at a later stage than most. A commitment to continual learning, together with a love of cooking for family and friends was instrumental in his decision to make the change.
Matt was extremely dedicated to his work and studies and completed a Certificate III in Commercial Cookery in 22 months and is now Head Chef of Bent Spoke Brewing Company in Canberra.
During his apprenticeship, Matt was the recipient of a CIT Culinary Skills Award and a Vocational Service Award and is a member of the Australian Culinary Federation.
In addition to his studies, Matt is working on a series of children's books that are aimed at providing young children with a lifelong love of cooking through reading fun and engaging stories.
Matt was a finalist in the 2016 ACT Training Awards, Australian Apprentice of Year Award, and was appointed as an Australian Apprenticeships Ambassador later that year.
